Summer Field Schools

Schools held by the Sefer Center can be basically divided into 2 main types:field-observation schools and field-working schools.

Field-observation schools combine academic component with an opportunity for students to travel to places of historical and cultural importance with the monuments of Jewish material and spiritual culture, immersion in the atmosphere of Jewish history and culture in different regions.

Students who participate in field-working schools spend most of their time on practical field work: collecting valuable ethnographic data, cataloging information about Jewish cemetaries, providing archeological excavations.Logiccally, during field working schools participants - usually they are well-prepared and skilful students - have lowered number of lectures and seminars in comparison with the other school type.
