Eshnav Program
Eshnav is the one-month annual academic training program at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for select students (including academically excellent undergraduates, post-graduates and young academics already teaching in the field). The program includes work research in Israeli archives and libraries, offering individual mentoring and tutorials by leading Israeli academics, as well as Ulpan course and tours across the country.
The first Eshnav Summer University program in Israel took place on July 18 - August 7, 1997, and was organized by AYJS and Sefer Center in cooperation with the International Center for University Teaching of Jewish Civilization and the Melton Center of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and the Joint Authority for Jewish and Zionist education of the Jewish Agency for Israel.
It was the unprecedented initiative to gather the best FSU students of the academic Jewish studies programs in Jerusalem for 3 weeks of unique educational, mentoring, research and social experience (academic chair - Prof.Shaul Stampfer).
